Our Story
Verdant Minerals’ origins date back to 2007, when the company first listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as a Northern Territory–based mineral explorer. The initial exploration focus was uranium, but this soon shifted to fertiliser minerals following the discovery of the Ammaroo Phosphate deposit in 2010.
Discovery and early development
In 2010, Verdant acquired Exploration Licences 25183, 25184, and 25185, which included the Ammaroo South Deposit. During the second day of drilling at the Barrow Creek 1 target, the company intersected 10 metres at 20.2% Pâ‚‚Oâ‚… from 16 metres depth, confirming a significant phosphate system and establishing the foundation for what would become the Ammaroo Project.
Growth through acquisition
Verdant strengthened its position in 2013 through the acquisition of Central Australian Phosphate Limited (CEN), bringing the Arganara Phosphate deposit and Rockhole prospect into the portfolio. These adjoining resources were later combined with Barrow Creek 1 to form the main Ammaroo Resource, now recognised as Australia’s largest JORC-compliant phosphate resource, exceeding one billion tonnes.
Expanding resource potential
In December 2016, the company adopted the name Verdant Minerals Ltd, marking its transition from explorer to phosphate project developer. Two years later, in 2018, Verdant completed a Definitive Feasibility Study confirming the technical and economic viability of exporting phosphate concentrate from Ammaroo and secured environmental approvals from both the Northern Territory and Australian Governments.
A new chapter
In 2019, Verdant was acquired and taken private by CD Capital Natural Resources Fund III and Washington H. Soul Pattinson (ASX: SOL). This ownership change provided a strong financial foundation to advance the Ammaroo Project toward construction readiness.
Looking Forward
Verdant Minerals is now fully focused on delivering the Ammaroo Project.
Our work continues to reflect the same core principles that have guided Verdant since its inception.
